Queensland Rail union-protected industrial action – no impacts to Airtrain
Airtrain’s services remain not affected by ongoing Queensland Rail union-protected industrial action. Services between Brisbane Airport, Brisbane City and the Gold Coast are operating every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes off-peak according to the Airtrain timetable.
The wider Queensland Rail network is currently operating on a modified customer optimised schedule. Please plan your journey via the Translink Journey planner for travel across QR’s South-East Queensland network.

Track work on the Inner City and Gold Coast Lines
All Airtrain services to and from the Inner City and Gold Coast will be affected by track work between Bowen Hills and Banoon Stations on Saturday 13th June and Sunday 14th June 2026. Rail Buses will replace trains in both directions.

Travelling to Brisbane Airport
Gold Coast and Beenleigh travel: Catch a train to Banoon station and change for a rail replacement bus to Roma Street station, then change for a connecting train to the Airport station.
Inner City: Catch a rail replacement bus to Roma Street station and change for a connecting train to the Airport station.
Travelling from Brisbane Airport
Gold Coast and Beenleigh travel: Catch a train to Roma Street station and change for a rail replacement bus to Banoon, then change for a connecting train to your destination.
Inner City: Catch a train to Roma Street station and change for a rail replacement bus to your destination.
TRAVEL TIP: When travelling on the rail replacement bus, place your luggage on the seat next to you or under the seat so it is within easy reaching distance. You may also ask your bus driver for ramp assistance when entering or exiting the bus to assist with your luggage.

June and July extended track closures – Beenleigh and Gold Coast Lines
June and July extended track closures – Beenleigh and Gold Coast Lines
From Saturday 27 June until Sunday 19 July, there will be major track closures and travel changes for works to improve your rail network.
Some journeys may take significantly longer than usual.
Please consider your travel options, plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Changes for each line will vary and your best travel option may change throughout June and July. See below for impacts.
These project works are essential to upgrade South East Queensland’s rail network as it undergoes a once-in-a-generation transformation to support our growing population.
The scale and complexity of these works requires a longer closure period to keep workers safe and complete as much work as possible.
Track closures may be subject to change due to ongoing union protected industrial action. We’ll keep you updated if there are changes.
