2024 Brisbane events
World Science Festival (15 – 24 March 2024)
Science enthusiasts and curious minds, listen up! World Science Festival returns to Brisbane’s cultural precinct with a stack of shows that will showcase the wonders of science and technology.
NRL Magic Round (17 – 19 May 2024)
The world’s biggest Rugby League Festival, NRL Magic Round is returning to Brisbane for another huge 2024 Queensland event. Suncorp Stadium will light up as eight games are played over an action-packed weekend of footy. All of the biggest names and the toughest teams in NRL will come together in one place, giving every fan the chance to take part in the atmosphere and action.
Brisbane Comedy Festival (26 April – 26 May 2024)
100 artists across 4 venues – Brisbane Comedy Festival is set to be one of the biggest Brisbane events in 2024. This laughter extravaganza is bursting at the seams with the funniest folk in the country, performing across the Brisbane Powerhouse, The Tivoli and The Fortitude Valley Music Hall.
Brisbane Marathon Festival (1–2 June 2024)
Brisbane’s only marathon distance running event, Brisbane Marathon Festival, is getting bigger and better each year, and this year’s festival is set to break all-time records. This historic and friendly Brisbane event isn’t just about celebrating the most elite runners – it’s about getting out, getting active and enjoying all that Brisbane has to offer.
Bluey’s World (from 23 August 2024)
The beloved children’s television show Bluey is coming to Brisbane in 2024. A one-of-a-kind immersive experience will be setting up in the city that inspired the show, as Bluey’s World delivers authentic sets and captivating storytelling for kids and kidults alike.
Brisbane Festival (30 August – 21 September 2024)
Experience the magic of Brisbane’s most anticipated event of the year, Brisbane Festival. The curated multi-arts program brings a diverse array of artists to the forefront as they inspire audiences. You can’t miss the iconic Riverfire on August 31st when the Brisbane River comes alive and the skyline is lit up with breathtaking fireworks.
2024 Gold Coast events
Gold Coast Film Festival (17 – 18 April 2024)
The Gold Coast Film Festival brings film to life in a distinctly Gold Coast way. The GCFF has firmly established itself as a key event in the Australian film festival circuit, with 12 days packed with more than 100 film, panels, parties, pop-up cinemas and other special events.
Gold Coast Marathon (6 – 7 July 2024)
Run for the good times as the world class international marathon celebrates is 44th year on the beautiful Gold Coast. One of the most prestigious marathons in the world, the Gold Coast Marathon has it all – unbeatable running conditions, a flat and scenic course, international status, spectator support, rewards for finishing and more!
Bleach* Festival (1 – 11 August 2024)
For one of the best cultural Gold Coast events, you can’t miss Bleach* Festival. This unique coastal festival celebrates local creative talent and spirit. Held across various locations on the Gold Coast, the diverse program includes live music, theatre, dance, art installations and interactive workshops.
SWELL Sculpture Festival (6 – 15 September 2024)
Held across the Gold Coast, Swell Sculpture Festival is Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition. Large-scale artworks by national and international artists will be displayed along the sandy shore for the public to view up close, with the main exhibition held along Currumbin and pop up exhibitions across the Gold Coast.
Groundwater Country Music Festival (18 – 20 October 2024)
The country hits the coast again as some of the best country artists in the industry bring free live music to the Gold Coast. The Groundwater Country Music Festival is an entertaining Gold Coast event, showcasing 60 homegrown and international artists over a music-filled weekend.
Gold Coast 500 (25 – 27 October 2024)
The Gold Coast 500 returns to the streets of the GC when the Supercars take on the iconic street circuit of Surfers Paradise. With loads of entertainment both on and off track, this is a thrilling Gold Coast event not to be missed.
Getting to your 2024 Queensland events
With a diverse array of events, Queensland is set to make 2024 a year to remember. When it comes to getting to your Brisbane and Gold Coast events, Airtrain will get you there on time and in comfort.
Airtrain runs express from Brisbane Airport and stops at Fortitude Valley, Central, Roma Street and South Brisbane stations. From there, you can continue on to the Gold Coast, and access buses or trams from Helensvale station. Our services run every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes off peak.
For 2024 events in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, you can easily get around with a go card – just touch on at your station of departure and touch off when you arrive at your destination. The go card is accepted on all Translink transport throughout Greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
Translink’s Smart Ticketing system offers more ways to pay, for a more convenient journey. Smart Ticketing allows you to pay with your Visa, Mastercard and American Express debit and credit cards at any South East Queensland train station, including Brisbane Domestic and International Airports.
