At the Airtrain station follow the signs to tap your go card on the dedicated machines. Hold your card to the centre of the screen to tap on or off. Once you’ve tapped your card, you’ll receive one of three messages:
Your fare will be automatically calculated when you tap on and off. You do not need to tap on or off whilst in transit, just at your final destination.
You can purchase, top-up, receive a balance and obtain a refund on your go card at the Domestic and International Airport stations. This, except for refunds, can be performed at the Ticket Vending Machine and at the Airtrain ticket windows.
Adult, Concession (except for Tertiary/ Post-secondary student), Senior and Child go cards can be purchased at the Airport stations. They require a minimum spend of $25, this includes $15 credit and a $10 card deposit for Adult go cards. All other cards require a $5 credit and $5 deposit.
For Tertiary/ Post-secondary students to be eligible for concession fares, you need to obtain your tertiary pass and go card from Translink; please see Translink for more information. Airtrain cannot apply the concession fare unless you have obtained the necessary cards through Translink.
You can also travel using contactless payment on the train station gates and card readers at the Brisbane Airport. To use contactless payment, you must touch on with a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. You can use a physical contactless debit or credit card, smartphone, smart watch, or smart device.
